  • 330 g self raising flour
  • 360 g granulated sugar
  • 360 g butter
  • 6 eggs
  • 30 g unsweetened black cocoa powder
  • 1½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 90 ml milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 400 g butter (salted)
  • 800 g powdered sugar (icing sugar)
  • 1¼ tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 tbsp milk or cream (optional – if the buttercream is too stiff)
  • Electric green food coloring (a few drops)
  • 250 g Orange fondant
  • 200 g Black fondant
  • 1 tbsp CMC powder
  • Sprinkles

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your baking pans.
  2. Cream together butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs one at a time.
  3. Sift together flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt; gradually mix into the wet ingredients with milk and vanilla.
  4. Pour batter into pans and bake for about 50 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool completely.
  5. Beat softened butter for the buttercream; add powdered sugar gradually until smooth, then mix in vanilla and green food coloring.
  6. Crumble cooled cake into pieces, layer in jars with buttercream, top with sprinkles and fondant decorations.
