  • 8 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter (softened)
  • 3 cups powdered sugar (sifted)
  • 1 cup black cocoa powder (sifted)
  • 1/4 tsp salt (for frosting)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract (for frosting)
  • Chocolate skulls (for decoration)
  • Fresh blackberries (for decoration)
  • Dried rose petals (for decoration)

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease two 9-inch round pans and line with parchment paper.
  2. In a bowl, sift together flour, black cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, mix eggs, buttermilk, hot coffee, canola oil, and vanilla until smooth. Gradually add to dry ingredients.
  4. Divide batter between pans and bake for 30 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Cool on racks.
